Sofia Muravyova. Project "Happiness for every family"

Sofia Muravyova

Diagnosis: сhronic renal failure.

The story that turned the life of the Muravyovs family over, began long before the birth of Sophia. Since the seventh month of pregnancy, mother was in hospital three times because of the risk of premature birth. At the forty-first week, finding a dubious condition of the fetus, childbirth was caused. From the first weeks of life, the baby was tormented by colic, gas and the impossibility of self-emptying. As a result, periodically it was necessary to put enemas, gas outlets, suppositories, give laxative drops. Sofia was constantly monitored by doctors.
Over time, the child’s condition only worsened – Sophia was sent to the area for examination. Doctors corrected diet, appointed new drops. Did a genetic examination. But at home, Sonya’s condition worsened over time: constipation reached five days, the tummy grew in volume, vomiting often occurred, lack of appetite, and abdominal pain. So it took almost six months. Parents sounded the alarm. In September 2016, Sone was given a bowel examination, irioscopy, ultrasound of the intestine, and a series of tests. After a month of examinations, the child was discharged home to get some rest.

In the middle of October, a new almost two-week examination was carried out in the regional hospital, in the surgical department – diagnosis: chronic constipation. She had to become better at home, but the child’s condition worsened – at the end of February 2017, Sonya suddenly became very ill – the girl lost consciousness and fell into regional intensive care. Mom recalls: “Everything was as in a fog: Sonya is unconscious, yellow in color, no urination, severe intoxication, vomiting with blood, feces with blood — a council of doctors cannot give an explanation about the condition of a two-year-old child. I prayed not to lose my daughter».

In serious condition February 21, 2017 Sonya was brought to Kiev, Okhmatdet, toxicology department, resuscitation. Sonya could not even breathe on her own, was connected to a ventilator, an operation was performed to establish a subclavian catheter, and a peritonial dialysis catheter was installed in the abdominal cavity. As a result of a dysfunction of the intestines, an inversion occurred. The diagnosis was officially diagnosed: Hirschsprung disease, acute renal failure. And there are a number of associated diseases: a violation of the folate cycle, a metabolic disorder, cerebral edema, pulmonary edema, secondary cardiomyopathy, an impaired liver function, and a convulsive syndrome.

After a general surgical consultation, it was decided to operate on the intestines, to eliminate the Hirschsprung’s genetic disease. Sonya is the first child in Ukraine, which has 55 cm of bowel removed through the anus! The operation was performed 05/05/17 (duration 4:00) in one stage without stoma output! “At the same time, the child was constantly on the overtonial dialysis apparatus! For the first time, our daughter started going to the toilet. In April 2017, after three months of dialysis, the final diagnosis was established: chronic kidney disease. Two options – lifelong dialysis or kidney transplantation. The girl’s family began to raise funds for kidney transplantation in Ukraine from a related donor.

In August 2017, a series of surveys of girls and mothers were carried out – a cross-match test showed perfect compatibility. Unfortunately, the child’s condition did not immediately allow a kidney transplant. Several times had to undergo surgery. In the end, on January 22, 2018, three-year-old Sonya was successfully transplanted to her mother’s kidney. Now Sonya is with her mom, dad, sisters and brother at home. The way of rehabilitation and adaptation to the second chance of life is not at all simple: taking immunosuppressive drugs and adherence to a special diet throughout life. And Sonia is only 4 years old.

The project “Happiness for every family” supports the family every month. And also collects funds for necessary medical treatments and planned rehabilitation.
