Vladyslav’s Story

Vladyslav is a serious little boy with big, expressive eyes and an incredible love for life. Despite his young age, he has already overcome challenges that many adults would find difficult to endure.

Vladyslav was a long-awaited and deeply loved child. The pregnancy was uncomplicated, but the delivery was long and difficult. Due to birth asphyxia, he was immediately admitted to the intensive care unit. After a long period of treatment, his parents were finally able to bring him home and begin the life they had dreamed of together.

However, when Vladyslav was just one month old, he started having seizures. Doctors diagnosed him with drug-resistant epilepsy with complex partial seizures, West syndrome, and cognitive developmental impairment. His family refused to give up. After a long search, the doctors found a treatment that finally brought his seizures under control.

Just when life seemed to be getting better, the family moved to Hornostaivka in the Kherson region to reunite with Vladyslav’s father. But in February 2022, their hometown became occupied, forcing the family to flee. Their long and exhausting journey to Kyiv left another mark on Vladyslav’s health, and the seizures returned.

In Kyiv, a new stage of his fight began: medication adjustments, consultations with specialists, and continuous rehabilitation. Since the age of six months, Vladyslav has attended rehabilitation centers where he learned to hold his head up, roll over, and sit independently. Today, he continues his rehabilitation at the International Center for Rehabilitation and Neurophysiology.

His family’s greatest dream is to see him take his first independent steps. That is why they cannot afford to stop, even for a moment.

Despite everything he has been through, Vladyslav remains a cheerful and curious little boy. He loves listening to music, enjoys playing with musical toys, adores swimming, and is currently learning to eat independently. Every new achievement is a meaningful victory for him.

Every month, Vladyslav needs ongoing support.
His essential needs include:

  • size 7 diaper pants,
  •  Sabril tablets,
  • Aquadetrim (Vitamin D).

Together, we can help Vladyslav continue his rehabilitation, celebrate new milestones, and bring closer the day when he will confidently take his first independent steps toward the future.
