Alisa Kravets. Project "Happiness for every family"

Alisa Kravets

Alisa Kravets with mother

Diagnoses: CCP – genetic syndrome of duplication of the short arm of the 8th chromosome, agenesis of the corpus callosum, hypoplasia of the cerebellar worm, retardation of psychomotor development. Mitochondrial dysfunction

Date of birth: 24.05.2018

The pregnancy was very desirable, but in the first weeks when the brain was formed, mother of Alisa, Galina, had suffered from a lot of stress. Her mom had been diagnosed with stage four of cancer. Operation, chemotherapy, work (Galina was a flight attendant on the international flights). The future mother felt bad that time, but she thought it was because of the worries, a sharp respiratory viral infection carried, fatigue and stress. When she heard about the pregnancy the happiness was endless!

The world has changed! All problems seemed to be solved and temporary. The future mother has completely focused on her little tummy. Being both legs on the ground, she felt the sense of flying with happiness! Together with her husband she attended a course for young parents, prepared for joint childbirth, walked in the fresh air and did fitness.

The second trimester of pregnancy started with complications – elevated tone. In the third trimester a patient was diagnosed with a premature placental insufficiency, Grade 3, a hydrocephalus and agenesis of the corpus callosum of the fetus – these diagnoses were given for the baby in the mother’s womb

After Alisa was born, she went straight to the hospital emergency room. The baby could not eat, she suffered from the vomiting, she was feeding through the probe …In a few days, in an ambulance with sirens Alisa was moved to the National Children’s Specialized Hospital of OHMATDET (Kyiv), where she spent one and a half months of her life. Every ambulance carriage has been carried out with an anxiety in Galina’s heart ever since, if we’d miss it, if we could… Antibiotics, medicines, oxygen drops, cramps – it was too exhausting for the young mom. She had a desire to wake up from a nightmare and just to sleep. She wished to keep small daughter in her arms knowing she’s fine, to feel joy, not looking 24 hours at the tiny, catheter-made body of her lovely daughter connected to the various machines.
From the first day at home mother had daily exercise with her daughter: gymnastics, fitball exercises, bathroom swimming. There were massage courses with a specialist.

And after eight months, they started to visit rehab centres because Alisa added a CCP (Child’s Cerebral Paralysis) diagnosis and revealed genetic breakdown. It’s become clear that they can’t handle themselves. In two years of continuous classes, there’s results: Alisa keeps and turns her head, sits with help, crawls like platsch, meets her special language, likes to be in the company, reaches for the kids, and is interested in toys and things. “Alisa really needs to catch up with her peers! As long as she is a little girl, we believe that anything is possible, only faith, patience and finances are needed to win over illness!”, – Alisa’s parents say.
Alice is a participant of Kids to Kids Foundation. With your help, we will be able to provide Alisa with monthly medications and annual rehabilitation to maintain her health.
