David’s Story
David is an incredibly smiling and bright little boy whose life is a testament to how perseverance and a mother’s love can overcome the toughest medical predictions.
It was her first pregnancy, and everything seemed to be going well, despite the mother contracting COVID-19. However, the birth itself became a true trial: due to complications and umbilical cord entanglement, David suffered lasting health consequences that affect him to this day.
When David was 5 months old, after numerous doctor visits and tests (head ultrasound and MRI), his parents received diagnoses that changed their lives: corpus callosum hypoplasia, atonic-astatic syndrome, and developmental delay. The doctors’ outlook was grim — they didn’t believe the boy would ever be able to walk.
Fighting for Every Step
The family did not give up. From the very first months, they began intensive work: rehabilitation in the best centers in Ukraine (Rostok Zhyttia, Krok za Krokom, MCRN) and daily exercises at home. And a miracle happened — at the age of three, David took his first steps with support!
Every rehabilitation session gives David a powerful boost. He has started to sit up independently, has a healthy appetite, and learns something new every day. But the road ahead is still long.
How You Can Help
After 5 years of struggle, the family’s resources — especially in the face of the ongoing war — are completely exhausted. David’s mother is raising her son alone, with no financial support from relatives.
To maintain David’s stable development and health, the following are needed monthly:
- Hygiene supplies: 3 packs of diapers (Pampers Active Baby, size 7).
- Specialized vitamins and supplements: Lecithin, Animal Gold multivitamins, high-quality Nordic Omega, Gamaton Kids.
