We want to share with you stories of the two teenagers supported by our project “Road to life”. The children survived a very difficult test of fate. But we are glad that thanks to like-minded people, partners and friends of the foundation, we have the opportunity to help such children.
Semyon Bakharev is 19 years old, he never knew his father and lived with his mother not far from Gorlovka. He studied at an ordinary school, very fond of running around the yard and riding a bicycle, like all the boys …
When the war began in the Donbas region, his mother was blown up on a mine and died. Simon was very worried about the departure of his mother, so the boy remained a round orphan. Semyon graduated from high school and entered the college as an electrician. Purposeful and stubborn in achieving his goal, Semyon decided to try his fate and came to Kiev in the hope of realizing his potential. “Kids to Kids” fund supports Semyon by providing him with accommodation and employment opportunities. Thanks to the friends of the fund’s partners for the opportunity to help Semyon!
In May 2017, Alyona Streltsova turned 18 years old. Our first meeting with her was also in May. A very modest girl with a bright smile and an open mind.
Mother left Alena immediately after she was born. Alena was left with her grandmother. Dad died when Alena was still very young. Grandma loved Alyona very much and taught the girl a lot: writing, reading, but most importantly, grandmother taught Alena to be kind and grateful.
Everything changed a year ago, when Alena was 17 years old, grandmother, the only native person, has died. A little later, Alyona’s mother has refused her parental rights to Alyona and the mother’s decision deprived her of her parental rights. The girl had nowhere to go so she came to the center of social rehabilitation of Toretsk city. Thanks to the director of the center, who gave Alyona a helping hand and did not leave her in such a difficult period, helped to cope and found the opportunity to give the girl a chance to realize her goal – to move to study in Kiev.
With the support of the “Kids to Kids” fund in July 2017, Alena moved to Kiev. In September she will start studying at the Kiev School of Fashion Design. We sincerely believe that everything in her life will turn out! After all, the most important thing for Alyona is – a great heart, the ability to set and reach her goals and believe in the best!
