The story of Ivanna from the town of Ichnia, Chernihiv region, was a great challenge for a large family. The girl was born in the Pryluky Chernihiv region by the Cesarean section during the war, and from the first minutes her personal struggle for life began. Hyperbilirubinemia, 17 days in intensive care, blood transfusions, many tests, medications, CT scans, brain ultrasound, EEG, and other.
The large family took the child’s diagnosis of cerebral palsy with double spastic hemiplegia of severe degree with a firm grip.
Every month Ivanna visits a neurologist, and her parents try new methods of rehabilitation and treatment in Kharkiv and Kyiv. Although the results are not always immediate, the family does not give up and continues to look for ways to improve Ivanna’s health.
Therapeutic exercise, warm wraps, and other doctor’s recommendations are diligently followed at home, because every small step of progress is a big victory for a child with cerebral palsy.
On the difficult path of Ivanna’s treatment and rehabilitation, her parents make every effort to ensure that the girl progresses and develops.
At less than two years old, Ivanna has learned to hold her head, roll over on her side, respond to sounds and smile gently at her family. The child weighs only 9 kilograms and needs constant care and assistance.
Her struggle for better health will continue throughout her life. The girl’s faith, love and family support help her. But they can’t bear the financial costs alone.
The Kilmashenko family has four children.
